I actually prefer to have both hands on the wheel anyway. Yet some of my friends will only have one hand on the wheel. Especially when their talking and have to gesture everything their saying. Which i find annoying. But then everyone has their own way of driving. Be it good or bad.

All an automatic is good for is if you want to kick your left foot out the window and masturbate, which you shouldn't do anyways.
