![]() [continued from last post] So why does one claim that Peter Pan contains an erotic undercurrent? First, there is the name of the story. The demi-god Pan was the most infamous horn-dog of antiquity, whose reputation is aptly represented by a celebrated statue below of him screwing a female goat! Second, Barrie (born 1860) was raised in the small Scottish village where a legendary orgy took place in the 1880s, which is remembered in a bawdy classic song called The Ball Of Kerrymuir. A cleaned-up version of it is sung by Jim Croce here, and an unexpurgated version is sung in a heavy Scots dialect by Kenneth McKellar here. A summary of its numerous variant naughty verses can be found here. Finally, the story of Peter Pan itself contains several very telling symbols and puns which time does not permit me to share with you now. Maybe later, if you are good! ;-) Last edited by RonTheLogician; 09-12-2018 at 01:32 PM. Reason: add documentation for use of "peter pan" in brothels |
