So why does one claim that Peter Pan contains an erotic undercurrent?

First, there is the name of the story. The demi-god Pan was the most infamous horn-dog of antiquity, whose reputation is aptly represented by a celebrated statue below of him screwing a female goat!

And by 1902, "peter" was attested in print as a euphemism for the penis, predating the debut of the story a few years later. Thus, the dick of the lustiest playboy of antiquity's mythology is properly enough called "Pan's peter." Don't tell me that when J. M. Barrie chose the name "Peter Pan" he had no idea of these associations! [Eighteen months after I first made this post in January 2017, I learned that in the brothels of America's "Old West," the term "peter pan" was ALREADY in use to designate the wash basin in which a client's genitals were washed! For my enlightenment, thank an episode of a one-time (2003-05) History Channel serial titled Wild West Tech, a copy of which you can view as I write this here. Second, Barrie (born 1860) was raised in the small Scottish village where a legendary orgy took place in the 1880s, which is remembered in a bawdy classic song called The Ball Of Kerrymuir.
