You could well be heard, so it's not the microphone. I guess it might still be a bit difficult for him to get out of his professional dungeon master role, where a low voice adds to the effect, to an actors' role where his voice needs to be clearly heard on cam. He shouldn't be too mad about that, just try to adapt.
