I think this forum is a good idea. All the treads about random topics can go in this forum. You should still try to stay within the topic expressed by the title of the thread.

Maybe WhyYou could draw up some basic forum guidelines. A sort beginners guide to forums. Ready for the new influx of members and for some of us lol.

I've been doing a lot of thinking about that very thing. I'm working on a few ideas and will post guidelines soon. For right now just try to keep within the topic of each thread.

I lived in South Carolina from '81 to '96 and had several opportunities during that time to drive in and around Atlanta. Gerorgia drivers are among the craziest drivers in the country. If you can't drive aggressively there you'll get run over...lol. I had many scary times in that city. So when I moved to Philadelphia in '96 I was broken in to aggressive driving. Philly is among the major cities of the US and with so many people driving around in the same area there's bound to be a lot of idiots behind the wheel. I must have met up with 3/4 of them! After living there for about six months I got into the habit of trying to always stay ahead of the pack. It's the only way to get anywhere in a reasonable timeframe.

We usaly have the state police with us when we go around the loop in atlanta. We call ahead and they are waiting for us . It tends to make the majority of them behave them selves. They would rather escort us around then to have somthing happen and they have to evacuate the city. They do that for us in chicago too. Some of the construction zones are rilly tight and they do a rolling road block behind me so no one can get up next to me in them. And i hate to say this but in tight spots like that it is other trucks that give me the most problems. That is why they just dont even let enny one by. Its a lot safer and as soon as we are thru they move in behind me and let everyone go. Some people get madd but when it comes to safty there are no short cuts.

Joplin is a bit too far south for you...unless you want to go by way of Tulsa, OK...lol! Joplin is right off I-44 just east of the Oklahoma border.

If they work on the construction at night then the going will be slow anyway. A lot of major construction is done at night because that's when there is less traffic for the workers to worry about.

Im up here in va. At a gaurd armory del. A load. I was sitting in the truck reading a book, and a fork lift came rolling past my truck and into the grass next to the parking lot. I sat there for a min. And no one came looking for it. So i walked to the back of the trailer looked in and the three guys are up in the trailer stacking the stuff on palets. And i said are ya missing somthing? They looked at me funny and the one said "oh **** where is the fork lift?" I said it pased me a min ago. The one guy ran over and descovered he forgot to put the brake on. So he started it up and it was stuck where it sunk in the grass. So this boy wonder gets his car a chevy cavilear. And thinks he is going to pull out a 6000 pound forklift. Well it didnt happen. He asked me do you think you can pull it out.i gave him a better sugjestion. Go get one of the hummers from the line. And a light bulb went off above his head. The only thing i could think is they let this guy carry a gun. The forklift is out now and they are back unloading the trailer. And boy wonder put a 2x4 by the wheel on the thing so it couldent roll away again. I felt like saying put the brake on stupid, but i didnt he is doing the best whith what he has to work with.

That's a good one tigger...lol! Just be glad that it didn't roll into your truck, that would have been a disaster instead of a funny story. They'll take anybody into the service now. He should have been sent to Forklift Drivers Academy before they let him near one of those machines...lol!

Yep. We had some dooseys in back when i was in too. I saw a guy one time look down the barel of his rifle to see if it was loaded. The comander saw this. And he didnt have a rifle for a long time. And got varry familer with the kitchen. And when i was going thru my jump training in ca. A guy put his pareshoot on upside down, had the legg loops on his shoulders and the shoulder straps around his leggs and was trying to put the strap that is suposed to go between your leggs around his chest. Thies guys made me look rilly good!

Forklifts are simple to drive but difficult to master. I was a master forklift driver. I could do things with a forklift that were beyond it's rated capabilities. Like...moving a 9,000 pound coil of steel with a lift that's rated at 4,000 pounds...without tipping over the lift. We also had a 10,000 pound lift but it was down a lot so when we had steel coils come in we had to unload them somehow. Ever ride a forklift when only 2 wheels are on the ground? Talk about a wild ride...lol!

I changed the title of this thread because it didn't make sense having a thread topic that was exactly the same as the forum topic. So now this thread is for topics and discussions that are related to each other but don't really fit within a common topic. In other words...This is where you can be as silly as you want and I won't complain about you staying on the topic. So have fun guys...just be nice...lol!

You shouldn't be saying things like that WhyYou. You'll have the health and safety people after you lol. I'm saying that i'm just as guilty lol. I used to do similar things like the carrying three packs of timber instead of two on two tyres . Hysters were best for that. All in the balance and skill of a great driver lol.

For who ever is interested i was able to get sarahs exboyfriends dads truck out of the woods. Yes i said ex- boyfriend. She broke up with him.(yea) it took 2 hours to get the tyrod fixed and put the spair tire on then 5 hours to get it up the side of the mountan. It was rilly down there, and i had to winch it around 3 trees that it hit on the way down. That boy had to climb up and down that hill about 50 times. But just befor dark in the rain i got it up on the road. We hooked a tow bar to it and i towed it back to his house. There is pry about $5000 damage to the truck. The hole drivers side is dented and tthe right front fender is smashed.. He wont be using dads truck for a long time. His dad told him he owes me 100 hours of work on my house to pay the bill for getting the truck out. So ill have help for quite a while to help me finish the house. I just had a dumptruck load of fire wood del. Sat and i told him to have it stacked by the time i get home next time. He could do it in a day if he worked at it. When i get home next time we are going to finish the front poarch so i can finish the roof. I got some new folks bought the lot at the end of my land. They have a daughter the same age as sarah. They are renting a house in town while theres is being built. Her and sarah have hit it off well. I took sarah in sat morn and got her hair fixed. No more pink! It is blond again, thank god. I dont think she will do ennything like that again.(i hope)
