Darn it you guys! You aren't supposed to remind me that I have a birthday coming up (I soooo don't want to turn 26) .

That is my correct address (the Mill address). May 29th is my birthday.

And that reminds me that I need to start looking into getting medical insurance. I would be cool with turning 26 if I was still able to stay on my parent's medical insurance plan.

Danielle, I hear your concerns about medical insurance and all that's going on. I'm diabetic and worry very much about what's going to happen (Insulin is freakin expensive!!!) The only thing I can recommend (and I've heard it on the Internet, so it has to be true) is that healthcare.gov is NOT encrypted and supposedly is a hacker's dream (esp. since you have to put good stuff like your medical history, address and SSN in). I dunno if there are humans you can go to instead where all your info wouldn't be open to someone hacking it. Before you start, you might want to send a quick message to your credit card companies asking what their provisions are about fraud, as well as picking doctors that insist on two forms of *picture* ID. HTH

But your birthday is another matter and you're so cool that it would be a great video-diary entry if we got to see you unwrap your presents! Just be sure to let Isis and Love Bug help)))

I always do birthday gift video logs. I won't open it up on the video (as I'm too excited not to open my gifts as soon as I receive them) but I will definitely show them off on camera. I get a kick out of doing that and sending a thank you to my fans who sent/send me things.

I'm most likely going to go through USAA to get my medical insurance. I already have my car and renter's insurance through them and have never had an issue with them. I didn't know that about the government insurance site. That's scary to know. My cc info gets stolen a couple times a year though so I'm used to having to dispute charges, cancel a card, be reissued a card and everything that goes along with having a new card.

Hi again Danielle,

One of the scarier things that's happening is someone taking your info and using it to have surgery! I read (somewhere) about a woman getting a hospital bill for $30K for bogus cosmetic surgery - and the hospital took her to court and won! She was able to work out a repayment plan and I think the court took some off the balance, but it still cost dearly.

I'm in a battle right now with the hospital I use regarding copays and they are merciless - threw about 30 bills into collection without telling me (I could have just paid them, but they had to be a$$holes about it). Hospitals are going to be more mercenary with the arrival of the ACA because (I think) it limits their prices for procedures (not sure, and don't want to start a political discussion).

Perhaps you know that the Europeans have long used a much more secure system than Americans still do, based on microprocessor-bearing smart cards, and colloquially called chip and PIN. Because of the recent massive incidents at stores like Target, most experts now believe that the US will roll out the gear needed to do chip and PIN by YE2015.

With my technical knowledge, I actually tried to persuade my mutual fund company to do something like this two decades ago, but it went into one ear and out the other!
