Finally achieved a personal milestone!!

I may have mentioned before that I'm trying to lose weight. I've been at it for about 16 months and I weigh in every month. Well, last month, even with the holidays, I managed to lose 7.1 lbs. This brings my grand total to 102.9 lbs!!!. I had hoped to break 100 by the end of last year, but came up just shy at 96.

Anyone who knows me would tell you that I've never been one to make a big deal of my personal accomplishments, but this has been a real struggle for me and I wanted to share it with you guys! I'm positively thrilled to have finally done this. You all have no idea!!!!! :D I still have a ways to go, but with the support of my family, friends and co-workers, I'll make it. :)

Wicked awesome! I have to say, as someone whose struggled with his weight for close to 10 years now, I'm a bit envious--how quickly did you lose the weight? Was it gradual? What do you think helped the most? Portion size, eating more but smaller meals? Exercise? What did you find helped you maintain the disciple to lose the weight? I have all sorts of questions (obviously), but what's most important is this: You did it! :D

I lost 22 pounds simply by retiring from work! There were too many temptations because of people constantly bringing in free food and/or making fast food runs. Once away from that, the pounds just dropped off. Of course, doing an hour of cardio at my gym 4-5 days a week didn't hurt!

Congrats grande351!!!! I know the weight issue well, I'm always trying to at least keep my weight stable. If I gain a few pounds it takes forever to get it off again...lol. Great job, keep up the good work! :)

As if I needed another reason to quit my miserable job! :D Of course, then I'd lose a LOT of weight since I wouldn't be able to buy food! Retirement must be nice, I've got at least 25 more years before I can even consider it and who knows what things will be like then. I plan on joining a gym sometime this year.
