Have you lost one or more cars in an accident?

Danielle's polls got me curious. Seeing how many cars were bought, WhyYou's statement and my own experience made me put up this poll of my own. Feel free to participate.

Even to me.:p

" Imagined that one of us will accompany the beautiful Danielle in nice trip by car ". Joking my Friend Danielle.;)

I have never had an accident. Only the most stupid things.
I am very careful and quiet. Certainly I love the speed. But it makes no sense.

Better to think of our human life. Why life is beautiful.:)

How did my driving instructor put it? "Driving in a car you've got to think at least for three: For yourself, for the one in front of you and for the one behind you."

I try to do that everytime I'm behind the wheel. Most of the time successfully ...

I lost two cars through crashes that were not my fault. First one was when i had a very nice looking red Ford Escort which i still miss today lol. A driver pulled out at great speed from a side-road and used my front-end to stop making my beloved Escort a write-off. The second was when i was heading up the m4 motorway and another driver tried to overtake only got way too close to me and i had to swerve ending up hitting the crashbarrier. Totalling the car and luckly i got out unhurt. Both drivers were female and i apologise to any female members and Danielle, Lia. But i do tend to check out whether the car in front or behind is being driven by a male of female driver. I know this makes me sound sexist, i don't mean it to be. I know there are very good female drivers out there. I just seem to come across the bad ones. I won't mention about the near-misses i've had from male amnd female drivers lol.

Rainy evening, rush hour traffic on the 101 in N. Calif. on my way home from class, this guy in a "borrowed" caddy zooms in passing on both sides of traffic, plows into the car in front of me (breaking my 3 sec space--bastard!), which winds up plowing into the car in front. I had either to drive off the road & probably tumble, plow into the car to my left in the fast lane, or just slam on my breaks and hope--oh well ...I now understand how salami feels in a sandwich. Oh, the guy had a suspended license, was driving an ex-girlfriend's unregistered, uninsured car (also stolen apparently)--he was led off, I got a tow, but my heart really went out for the person up at the head of the line--she was driving her brand new car home from the dealership! At least mine was over 10 years & over 100k miles old.

I have been lucky only been in a few fender benders.

eastbill 04-21-2009 02:00 AM

someone turned into right in front of me from a blind spot right across me we hit totalled both cars. lucky for airbags only one bump on my knee. bad luck that i had found my ex wife (of two months) canceled my car insurance. so i collected nothing on it at all.

MISSY 04-26-2009 02:28 AM

I had a ford escort and i ran into the back of a dumptruck at a red light.:o

What year? depending on the year it may have been for the best... i had an 88 and a half (that is what the manual said) and according to consumer reports, it was the worse escort ever built. known for issues with the electrical system. and i can tell you from personal experience that it was true.

WhyYou 04-26-2009 04:44 AM

I was driving my white volkswagon beetle, rushing to work because I was late. There was a car stopped at a stop sign just up the road about half a mile away. It was an older car and a real tank, looked like it could be hit and not be damaged. I got to find out about that. Just as I got up near that car the driver decided it was time for him to pull out. I hit hard because I had thought he would at least wait until I had gone by (he had waited for this long!). The accident ripped out the front end of my volkswagon and put a small dent in the other car's bumper. The driver of the tank was an old man who looked like he needed new glasses. Luckily, I didn't get fired from my job because I had a good excuse for not being able to get to work that day.

Well i hope he was insured WhyYou. Sounds like a bad case of bad driving. He obviously didn't look in the mirror for oncoming traffic. That's happened to me a few times where people just pull out without looking or even indicating so i have to hit the brakes as they casually pull out oblivious as to what's behind them. It's very frustrating when that happens. I wonder how some people pass their test with bad driving like that. Maybe they've forgotten what they learnt at driving school.

CK1 04-26-2009 06:42 PM

83 was a good year... its funny how i was reading the consumer reports chart and all the cars were great... except for that year. everything else rated above average... just my luck i would pick that one.

Lol, that sounds like a wine rating. :D
I never thought of cars in good years and bad years. I might have to rethink.

We've had a used Escord for a couple of years. It was NOTHING but trouble. Must have been an 88er. ;)

And now she drives a 08 mustang gt. that Jeromy got her for her birthday last year. gloss black with all the trimmings.

Max 06-18-2009 05:05 AM

My brother wrecked a car that we had. I wouldn't exactly say it was my car, because I didn't buy it, and I would never really call a car with automatic transmission "My Car" it was a car that was given to us that our father drove for several years, and he does stupid things when driving, and he totaled it. The only dumb thing I have ever done driving is I took my mom's van around the block in reverse. No damage occured.

66 GTO!, 68 Corvette! their classic cars!. Have they been completely totalled Immortal?. If they have, then that really is a shame. Especially as the Corvette is my favourite model.:(

captnjack 08-14-2009 06:52 PM

That's a shame they were all totalled, if you have any classic 60's or 70's Corvette's especially in red. Please take very good care of them, as any 60's or 70's model corvette would be my dream car. Like the 66 Corvette Stingray or the 72 Corvette Stingray ZR1.:D

Corvettes can be cool, but all the ones I have seen absolutely suck, because they have all been automatics. Some of the old "purists" will be fine with an automatic one, but hate EFI. Why?

Well i've never driven a corvette Max, have you driven one to be able to make that statement Max?. I can only go by pictures and videos, as i've never seen a Corvette for real and in my opinion they just look incredibly beautiful cars to look at. I've loved the look of all Corvette's since i was a child. I even had many Corvette toy cars as a child lol.

FTVfanatic 08-15-2009 08:53 PM

I have 50 bucks saying he has never driven a Corvette. He just makes statements like that.

It goes like: "It sucks 'cause it's automatic. I have never driven one, not a stick nor an auto, but auto transmission must suck."

That's his reasoning.

That's my thoughts exactly FTVfanatic. Are we right Max?.

When i said my favourite car is the Corvette i wasn't refering how it drives as well as i wouldn't know. I was only saying they look a very beautful car in my opinion.

Immortal 08-16-2009 10:20 PM
