Job professions- what do you do?

Just out of curiosity, what do the members of ftv do to earn a living?

The job tittle and job details/description would work great. Any pictures of your job would make it all that the much more interesting.

Raymond 01-12-2010 06:07 AM

I'm a fulltime graduate student but also an FTV Affiliate and Powerseller on eBay to make a little money on the side.

Not sure what I want to do with my degree when I'm done. Maybe go to dental school and then open a porn site.

Just Kidding!!! (or am I?)

What about you Aaron. Besides FTV what do you do in "real" life?

laranger 01-12-2010 07:21 AM

I work in a sawmill, started out as a timber stacker then made machinist and now i'm the mill foreman all in 19 years. At first i was quite apprehensive taking on the foremans job thinking am i really upto it. I got a lot of support from my friend Tony who was the forman but now retired and was 100% sure i could do it. Apart from having to fire two guys so far and i'm hoping i don't have to do that again it's been ok. My job is to make sure the mill runs smoothly and i hand out the cutting orders after i've checked them for any mistakes and to ensure the right timber is used. But to be honest i really do miss machining, although i do occasionally get back on the machines whether it's a bandsaw or planer, when i'm needed.

I (I should say we) try to find little Higgs boson in this mess. This one is a simulation... but in real life, if I may say, to find this naughty little tricky thing is not a cup of tea !

Sarah, do you work at the LHC (Large Hadron Collider) in Geneva? Are you a scientist in physics?
Schon das "Gottesteilchen" gefunden oder wenigstens eine Spur davon?

It's what happens to your brain on drugs.

CK1 02-21-2010 02:39 AM

i think i know what that is. window media player has an option called visualizations. it creates patterns and changes colors based on the music that is being played. i think that is what you are seeing is an image of that.

Anoree 02-21-2010 05:10 AM

It's a picture of what happens when subatomic particles collide at near light speed: The high energy set free creates new particles.

mart 02-21-2010 01:30 PM

Maybe we shoukld ask Sarah what exactly this picture represents, in laymans terms of cause. For us not very bright sparks.;)

Right! Anoree right!

Today the Great Ring has awakened from its long slumber.
And in late March it will be shining.
Shall we face some Nature’s deep secret or fail again?
I don’t know! But let’s try!
To love is to risk not being loved in return
Nature smiles with dawn and laughs in flowers.

Dear CK1, dear Missy

Here is the music... for the media player, we did that to try to explain what we are working on.

Wow Sarah, this is a cool video! Love it. Very informative too. It's already on my YouTube favourite list, lol. BTW, I watched the other non-music videos about LHC there too.
