Here is a pick of the DOD. inspectors doing a DOT. ins. on one of our trucks no it is not mine and my truck does not look like that! If you look by the tires you see the portable scales they use to weigh the trucks They did my truck next.

Grandma went out on the back porch to see what Pouncer was getting all excited about and she found out real quick!

He was up on the porch trying to get at the bird feeders. they do this alot just not in the middle of the day. mostly early morning or at dusk. this fella is one of the regulars and has come all the way up and looked in the door before!

captnjack 04-16-2010 04:58 AM

I have always been afraid of bears. I would hate to see him on my back porch.

tigger 04-16-2010 08:11 PM

We have got kinda used to them being around. I have had one come up right behind me before and steel a pack of hotdogs off the table. It's amasing how quiet they can be sometimes. It still gets my heart racing but we have learned to tolerate them . Had a cub run up to me once in the yard, and one snort from the mom and he ran back to her. they are vary courous, have had them sit by the treeline and just watch me and when i walk away they will come over to see what I was doing. Last year had one plop down at the end of the drive way and watch me do the brakes on my truck, Sarah brought me out somthing to drink and she thru some stale bread to him and he sat there and ate it till a car came up the road and he went up in the woods. If you don't startle them they wont get agressave. But they are well awair that they usaly get somthing to eat if they hang around when we are out side. And they seem to know that grandma will be cleaning out lastyears stores from the root celler and putting them out for the wildlife and it also gives them a little boost from the winter sleep till things start to grow for them to eat.

I regularly get foxes in my garden which aren't a problem, i wouldn't want to come face to face with a bear though. So providing your careful and don't frighten them Tigger, there's no chance of them attacking you?, i know some bears can be quite fierce. Or are these the more gentle type?, if there's is such a gentle bear type.

I don't think there is such a thing Mart as a gentle bear. They out weigh, can run faster and climb higher than a person. I think maybe I have a bear phobia!

Guess your right Captnjack, the only bears i've seen for real were in zoos and they didn't look too friendly to me, just don't take any chances Tigger, although you don't need me to tell you that.

You may have a bear phobia Captnjack, i know i definately have a snake phobia, just don't post any snake pictures Tigger, they scare the crap out of me lol.

Mart...you want a copy of the movie "Snakes on a Plane"...lol

tigger 04-19-2010 11:59 PM

Im not saying I dont give them the respect they deserve, it is just the fact that black bears are not as agresive as there larger relitives. and they are a regular visiters to the yard and we have gotten used to having them around and they are used to us being around. but i do keep an eye on them when they are around. they are still wild and have big teeth and long claws.

I assume you are talking about the tractor with the red & gray cab. Looks like some heavy tread on the rear tires for a tractor. Do you plan on going mud slinging with it?

It isn't a tractor (as in tractor-trailer). It was a straight truck with a cargo van body over the rear wheels. But I will let tigger tell you all about it. :)

MISSY 04-26-2010 01:03 PM

Its a military 6x6 that Tigger bought last month. He is as happy as a kid with a new bike at christmas. lol He is going to restore it. Im sure he will post more photos when he can.

captnjack; Your assumption of which is his new toy is correct. Tigger plans on doing a restoration and hopes to return it to what is pictured. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y32...Mattstruck.jpg

Its comming along got a lot of the wireing in over the winter, and got the front and upper windown in. The weather has not been in my favor too much. but i was able to get the hole inside framed in, just need to finish the wireing and get the plumbing run up from the basement and insulate the outer walls and i can start hanging sheet rock. still a ways to go but one thing at a time.i found a company that i can get a do it your self spray insulation kit from and i think i might go that route. its a little more $$$ but i think it will pay off in the long run in heating ands air bills.

this is my heat this past winter. that 55gal barel stove did a great job. after about 2 hours we had to open the doors to let some cold air in and when the temps got down to the single digets it kept it about 55 deg in there and that is with no insulation on the walls!

The two windows on the front porch the front door is in the right of the pick. the post (6x6) in the left of the photo is 27 feet long goes from the pad to the roof 1 piece. Jeromy helped me set that one it was a bugger. that corner of the porch is 12 feet off the pad the post sets on and the pad is 4 feed in the soil.

Tigger-FYI...6 or 8 years ago, my partner & I were building a house for a client..partner got in a hurry & had the insulation blown in on the outside walls before the siding was on (just had osb)..got wet..had to replace it all..cost us thousands (& I'm still pissed..:) )

(tyvec wasn't on yet either)

Yea i have heard that but i plan on having the siding on before i do any of the insulation inside. Need to let it dry out really good first. I'm doing most of the building my self so its slow and the winter got me before i could get it covered.

House is looking good Tigger!, rains always been the worst enemy of builders. Especially when you get them moments when you really don't want it to rain, like most of the time lol. Thanks for posting the pictures Tigger.

tigger 04-30-2010 07:20 PM

For a while there it rained or snowed every time i went home. Sarah accused me of bringing it with me!!!!:o
