Yep..our customers all want top grade wood...for bargain basment pricing..lol..bidding jobs has become a real bloodbath in our world lately..Glad I don't have to do the estimating anymore. I used to love it when someone would ask for a high end labor intensive bid & spec some exotic hardwood (that could only be found in some remote region of Tibet lol), and then ***** how high the price was.
Does your mill just ship rough sawn timber, or do you ship s4s & shaped mouldings as well?

Management type's usually don't share a sense of humor with their employees! You would think that they would feel confident enough with their own products & services that they wouldn't fear a shirt logo from a compeditor..lol (maybe they have something to hide)

I also used to get alot of clothes for freebies as well, but with the present economy, this year I'll be lucky if I even get a "Thong"..lol. Had a fair weekend, although I didn't get out much..too cold for me to out & about. Too bad your friend didn't make the hole-in-one shot, that would have obligated him to buy you all a free "Pint" wouldn't it?

We used to get alot of freebies from suppliers..always waited until they left to throw them away.. Hope you make another hole-in-one..never played golf, but I have a few friends that speak of nothing else..I think they might be addicts..are there meds for that?..LOL

So I'm guessing you haven't ever put handrail on one of those fancy "Curved Staircase's" either..those are always fun..
Ahh..the debate..none of my US tapes have metric included..have to buy one of each over here..course all I use is the "Stanley" brand..my favorite for years...now my speedometer has both miles & kilometers..lol..maybe I could use the truck for the long measurements..

That makes sense to me..Europe has always been more metric than imperial & sometimes I think about going metric..an example would be in handrail baluster layout.
When I have a long run I generally use a construction calculator that converts to imperial measurement, but it is only accurate to 1/32", so if you have 30+ balusters, and gain or lose 1/64" as you go & you don't remember to compensate for that & other small factors, you can lose or gain up to 1" on the opposite end spacing..then it looks like **** & you have to do it over..lol..now that I think of it..I think I'll go get me a metric tape measure just for handrail installation..thanks for bringing that up..

I have the same setup with one big room with dining at the far end as well..small world..lol
I always use imperial measurement, but there are a few in the organization that use both as you do..I never got used to metric though..Its hard to change after 50/60 years of doing it the same way.

I like the eating & sleeping as well....I find it interesting that you are making a coffee table with a Parquet top..turns there is a round one (36") with an octagon Parquet inlay in my living room (that has a concealed telescoping device-will go up 30" & make a full size dining table)..I have made some furniture, but since I have to do it in the garage, I don't do it very often or lately..mostly bookcases for the kid since those don't take much time..
The new *** is growing in fine..just one big crack so far..might have dryed too fast..lol..but don't feel bad about me losing that bet or my ***..turns out having lunch with an incredibly beautiful girl was much more enjoyable & far more interesting than watching any old video..
