The reference to Popeye I believe he said in one of his cartoons "I am what I am and I aints no more" but don't quote me on that. About the only John Denver song I can remember is Country Road(s) which got played so much I got tired of hearing it.

If I remember right, the other fella's song you mentioned, the Commodore's son, went something like this:

I'm Popeye the Sailor Man,

Denver (Henry John Deutschendorf) had a couple songs I liked, chiefly Eagle & the Hawk.

It was Neil Diamond, my friend. My Mom listened to three singers when I was a kid--John Denver, Anne Murray & Neil Diamond. Hot August Nights has to be one of the best albums ever. My personal favourite Neil song, though, is Holly Holy.

Yeah that is pretty close alright. Heard the song on the radio the other day and I had forgotten how much I liked it. Now if I can just remember who did it. I believe it was either Neil Diamond or Popye the Sailorman!
