I've sent an email to Rob to see if this was possible. What I would like to see is some reposts of some older sessions to a more high def format. Like Allison, Amy, Erika, Jamie just to name a few. Members could then vote to see which previous girls sessions should be upgraded. This would a great way to slowly improve the back catalog. What are your thoughts?

Maybe upgrade some of the most popular sets, maybe the top 5 or 10.

FWIW, I've only been an FTV member for 6 months or so and I barely have time to keep up with the new releases, much less download all of the back catalog! It sucks, because I'm sure there's a TON of great stuff I haven't seen.

I think it would be great if we could buy "Best Of FTV" DVD's with some of the older material

Fine with me. My computer can't display HD files anyway. I downloaded a few and the picture rolls or it's chopped up into three sections. It's hard to actually describe what I get but... I simply can't process Hi Def. I have to go with the less than HD option.

(Mini-)DV uses a resolution of 720x480 pixels on NTSC (720x576 on PAL).
The older videos (like Violet's) already have a resolution of 640x480 pixels.

Stretching those videos to 720x480 pixels would obviously not a good idea.
(Video pixels have different aspect ratios than computer displays.)
I don't think the (possible) gain achived with coding the videos anew isn't worth the high effort Rob would have to put into it.
(He rather can spend the time with filling us in with interesting tidbits of the models ;))

For the photos it's a different thing. Rob may have the picture sets in higher resolution than originally posted. There may be potential for improvement.
But here, too, Rob would have to edit all the photos to include model name, FTV imprint and copyright line.

Rob has allways done a mighty good job, providing us with the highest quality content possible.

Oh, my, when I started typing (and looking up the facts again) Rob hadn't answered yet.

I also have problems with the current HD content. My laptop I use to watch the videos can't process 8 Mbit/s. Somewhere in the video it starts skipping frames, resulting in a 1 frame per second slideshow with audio. Not very funny.

I'ld say its your video card that's causing the problem.

Not necessarily. A good video card with hardware video decoder can help, though.
Most video cards, especially in notebooks, don't have this hardware decoder. The CPU has to do the decoding then, and that can easily clog up with higher data rates.

With or without hardware decoding, the video has to be transmitted to the video card, too. And depending on the system bus, that can be difficult, too.
Video isn't a game, where most of the displayed data can be stored in the graphics memory and be calculated in the video card.

Err, sorry, too much tech talk. :o

2 gb ram also helps if you are running the 8000kb/sec.
