We have a question thread for Danielle, maybe we should have one for Rob too. Rob, would you be willing to entertain some questions from the "peanut gallery"?

I have one to start off. Have you ever filmed a girl only to have her flake out after the shoot? Have there been any great updates that you could never release for that reason? No specifics necessary.

Though I don't know what you mean by flake out after the shoot, since if the shoot is done, then I have the update. A few cases where the girl was simply not cute enough or things didn't work out, yes, the shoot was cancelled on the spot. For example, this one girl sent cute pictures of herself, but when she arrived, she had gained 40-50 lbs and simply would be hated on by FTV members. So I had to send her (fly her back) early. It just costs me time and money in the end. True, the girl leaves unhappy, but then again why decieve with fake photos?

As for great updates that aren't added, they do in the end -- classic example is the Brynn shoot, where I shot her a year ago, but it was rather short, so she returned a few months later to complete it into the great update it turned out to be.

I'm sorry, I didn't explain it very well. Has any girl ever had second thoughts after doing a shoot and decided she didn't want it released? Possibly after she got home, deciding for whatever reason, that she shouldn't have done it?

Do you "negotiate" a fee with each girl separately or do you say "I'll give you XXX dollars - take it or leave it?"
no negotiation, just a set fee range, and then I determine based on her performance, personality, looks, potential popularity, extremeness etc... to pay her within the high or low range
Why does it take so long from shoot to update? Supposedly, Danielle removed her nose stud a while back but it's still in her nose during the Emily update.

the reason that it takes so long to post an updates (and Rob could correct me if i am wrong) has to do with the work that goes into getting the final product. you don't just film and post. it probably goes something like this: pick up girl at airport, decide if and what they will film there before heading to the house or hotel. they probably already discussed this before her arival but things change. model might have had a long flight and nees some rest time. getting everyone and every thing setup at the shoot location, start the filming, stopping because of people or to reset the the camera to a better location or to let the model move to a different location. once the filming is done then there is getting the model back to their place and then the airport. (not to mention all the legal stuff like signing contracts and paying them). then there is the editing process of editing what we would like to see adding enough personal content (interview, conversations, etc.) and enough sexy stuff to keep us coming back for more. meanwhile he still has to setup additional shoots, talk to models, basically all the logistics while trying to do the editing. then he views the final product and decides if he should add or subtract from what he has editing. maybe the inverview didn't go as great as it could have and he will have to cut it short. also he wants to edit a trailer for that model. plus then there is the entire making of the actual film in different video rates to make sure that those with slower connections can still see the videos. so there is a lot of stuff that goes on in the back ground. i am just happy that rob has kept the quality of the site up.

Ha! ha! What is this... a little "professional jealous?" Surely you are secure enough to allow Rob the chance to choose his "favorite MODEL" from all the years he's done FTV. And, if you hadn't written this, who knows... maybe he would have named YOU and/or Lia? Now, we will never know for sure.

Rob i'd like to know how long on average it takes to put a video together?. From the titling and editing the scenes together. Also why are there no end credits to most of your videos. I've never liked how the videos sometimes finish suddenly. Just me being fussy. So do you set a time factor as to how long you spend editing a video?. Just curious and there isn't any form of complaint in these questions Rob.:)

It takes about 2 full days (20+ hours) to do the video editing, photos, background pics, text, tour, graphics, coverpages, etc... I don't fade out in the videos, or make pretty music to finish them, I let them stay as raw as possible.

I haven't downloaded Carli and Jamie's updates yet (I'm fairly new to the site and have a TON of catching up to do!). I did download all three of Andrea's updates because I was a fan of her later work (as Andie Valentino). Her first update is pure gold! She looks stunning and I LOVE the way she talked to the camera as if the viewer was in the room! Not exactly a groundbreaking technique, but effective. I like to see more girls do that. Especially Danielle!

I wonder how contribution updates are made. I like seeing them, don't get me wrong. :)

Do you simply "outsource" the shot like in Gabby's case, or do you get sample videos by members and then decide "I think they can handle it" and let them do a shot for you?

Simpler put: How does one become your contributor?

Have you ever thought about a contributor's section on FTV, say for member / member's girlfriend/wife shots, that have a decent quality?

I get hordes of contributions, but they don't ever come even micro-close to what I need. The ones you see like Tina, Vanessa, etc... are from people who are either trained by me over many years, or professional guys who do shoots for other sites like ATK, Karups, Met-Art etc... Unfortunately they never seem to get the video right. The girls are selections of their own, approved by me.

HI Rob, thank you for accepting answering the questions. Despite what people may think it is not an easy job, right? So let´s go with the first question
1. What are the best and worst part of working as a photographer for FTV girls? By worst part I mean that there might be some kind of complication
Best - The creativity side, seeing a girl in the raw, transformed into a sexual & confident model who enjoys being nude (even in public) -- the resulting photo & videoshoot, and putting it all together with the coverpage and storyline. The worst -- dealing with some models' bad habits, like drugs, alcoholism, extreme flirtation, and so on.

2. How hard is to have a pretty naked girl in front of you and you can´t touch her? Don´t you?
There are times that it can get tough, especially if they are flirting with you, and you find them attractive, but my rule has been 'do not touch' at all times. Also, when I'm looking at the viewfinder at all times, its not as erotic as if I was looking at the model directly.

3. You are the founder of FTVgirls. How did you come up with the idea?
To make a long story short, back in Dental School, I ended dating a girl who liked to be taped masturbating and such. She set me up with many other girls to shoot for fun, and so I came up with the concept of 'first time videos'. It was 6 years later that I finally decided to make an actual website of girls doing this 'first time' thing. Also, I was a member of other adult sites back in 1999-2000, and I thought I could do better.

4. What is people´s reaction when you tell them you take pictures of naked girls? Do they envy you? Maybe someone “too moralist” throws you holy water?? lol

I only get asked about 'what I do' when they see the cars and such, but most of the time I just say I'm a dentist. If I have to talk about my FTV work, I tell them I run a site along the lines of 'girls gone wild', and its doing pretty good. Most reactions are 'cool, that's awesome', never any obvious negative reactions. But of course, many will hate behind your back, not directly at you.

5. I guess it is hard to try to get the best part in 1 second or choose the best pictures, but I guess it also depends on chemistry between photographer and model. Have you ever had a problem with a model ( i.e attitude, lazyness, grumpy, mutual dislike) so it was hard to do the photoshoot?
Of course, the girls many times come in tired, or have just broken up with their boyfriend, depressed, etc... But I tend to cheer them up enough to make things work. And in most girls' cases, especially the true first-time girls, they are a little nervous, but always excited. So that helps. Occasionally there are situations where I have 'failed shoots', where the girl and me simply don't mesh, and/or they are not what they claimed to look like in their application pics. Those shoots tend to be the ones you see appear on FTV for a very short time, with little content, or they simply don't get seen by members at all.

6. Any anecdote? You don´t have to name the model.
Some members might already know who I'm talking about, but a classic example -- A model flies in, she so extremely high on herself, will not listen to any direction whatsoever, and goes above and beyond self-congratulating herself the whole time. Problem is, when she starts the masturbation scene, she says she can have real ones, but does a very obvious fake one. Along with that, she has a pretty bad yeast infection, and I cannot hide that on video. So I tell her we need to cancel the shoot, and the 20 minutes is all I'm getting. She goes into a rage, claims that I'm the worst photographer in the world, and throws things around. I pay her a smaller fee, she goes even more ballistic, and threatens to tell everyone else how I've mistreated her. Anyways, its one of the reasons why I try not to shoot models who have modeled for 150.8 different sites.

7. I am a big fan of Danielle FTV. Besides being the most beautiful model (according to me and many others) she is a photoshoot assistant. Who else assists you?
Right now nobody else assists me, most of my shoots I work with the model alone. The more people are present at a shoot, the slower it goes, and the less 'chemistry' or 'intimacy' you'll see in the video. But there are others, like Jackie, Ashley, Alison, Lia etc.. who have assisted in the past.

8. This has gave me an idea (could be stupid, depends on your opinion). How about having fans assist in one shoot? Maybe a kind of draw?
fans have assisted before, sometimes I'll have a local fan who lets me use a property of theirs etc... and so they are directly involved with the shoot.

9. If you can choose an internet model (outside ftv) who would you love to do a photoshoot with?
Ewa Sonnet from Poland, but she doesn't speak english (I think).

10. Do you have a girlfriend? Is she ok with your work? Is she an FTV girl?
Right now I don't have a serious relationship, its difficult when you're working all the time, and on top of that, most 'mainstream' girls don't like a guy who shoots porn.

11. How do you see yourself in 5 years? BTW, how old are you?
I'm 37, I see myself retired from FTV in 5 years, moving on to the next project.

12. What hobbies do you have?
Racing cars, Star Trek & other Sci Fi, PC Gaming, Mountain 'Adventure' Runs

13. Many girls have gone through FTVgirl. I remember Melissa (famous by her Raimi XXX name), Cassandra Calogera (who is now in the porn industry) and many others. Is there any girl from the past that you would like to have a shoot again?
Andie Valentino (Andrea) would be a nice return shoot, and FTV Exclusive Danielle (old 2003 Danielle) would be a few that come to mind.

14. If there is a girl interested in joining FTV, how can she contact you? What does she need to be part of the FTVgirls family?
Girls send applications directly to FTV, with non-nude photos of themselves, and basically if they are comfy with masturbating on camera, and they have that 'naturally beautiful' look, I contact them with further details.

15. What would be the next step for ftvgirls.com?
Well, to be honest, I'm trying to get others who can emulate me & eventually replace me, but so far I've been unsuccessful. Even those top professionals that contribute to other megasites have not been able to get me the content I need. So for now, I will continue rolling on, doing it all for FTV.

I'm a little sorry to read you plan on moving on within the next 5 years, but at the same time, you do deserve time to collect your thoughts, get some real rest, and then move on, as you said, to the next project. Somehow I suspect that there's already something cooking in that noggin of yours, you're just working out the details in your mind first. You know the old saying, "slow and steady wins the race." But I'm also fairly certain that no one will be able to replace you at the FTV helm--not Craig Morey, not Jon Cohen, not Tim Fox, no one. And this isn't just cheap flattery or sucking up (what am I going to get out of it? Nothing--its not like I could replace you, or would even be able to put together an even half-way decent update for you), this is just my ever so "humble," honest opinion.

I have to say that you have an only great virtue: get by alone and to the great one! And have succeeded there! Seen the beautiful results that your beautiful models have answered (well between the strongest and the normal ones).

For me my greatest absolute preference that Rob has given me from your FTV remains: the absolute queen Alison Angel!! Great example of success and phenomenon in the kingdom of FTVGirls. She has not been well unfortunately winning from sponsor and affairs of webmaster in the world of the perfect and clean naked. Better so for Alison Angel that a perfect and original uncontaminated girl remains from the Porno danger web. As I believe for others some strong girls of FTV as Lia19 (and perhaps Fiona, Violet and others that I don't know well them).

Also I have had my virtue to get by alone and to be strong as Rob.

I am liked some of your answers! As: the creativeness on the art of the female nude (and not only), the ability not to touch the women when he works well with the models (at times I have thought that one don't withstand, and it feel like touching her), to know how to bear the characters of the women even if they are angry (memory that the man always has to love and to respect the women), the cleverness not to make videos to the girls porno too exaggerated and with monotonous men and repeat you.

If I had had my fortune to have a beautiful villa I would have invited Rob with Danielle (Unfortunately Alison has ended) to serve a shoot as my parts. I would perhaps have had the fortune to be inside the shoot.

I believe that Alison was as a sister of Rob that served as great assistant. And it was marvelous.

I believe that you have the right to continue your beautiful rare masterpiece in the world web. And if there is no anybody anything else other than can replace You, it is because they have not understood anything of as to work well with the models to love and to respect her. Because it needs to learn to understand her girls before doing the models and the job behind the videocamera.

I hate the exaggerated Porno! Don't have any value on the art of the female nude.
There are instead some valid, but rare sites as it is the best of FTVGirls of the cleverness of Rob and his stronger girls.

Rob what do you honestly think of us members photoshopping you pictures?. We know your work is the best around when it comes to photography. Have you ever thought. was surprised to see only HD videos, too, and have my troubles downloading them, too. But that depends on the time of day I download.

Maybe Rob and Danielle are willing to add a low res option, again. (Which unfortunately would mean double the time encoding the videos.)
I'm sure quite a few members would appreciate low res videos for quick glimpses or because they can't view HD videos.

Rob, both Anoree (above quote) and myself have problems with Hi Def files. FTV offers lower res ones, why not Danielle's? You have to remember, not everyone has a HUGE hard drive and FAST Broadband. It takes ME about ten minutes per video clip on my slow DSL to download a non-Hi Def .WMV file on FTV.

I might be wrong but I bet a good percentage of people will have difficulty with D's media downloads.

This is just a fun question... actually, a couple of them.

If money where was not a factor, would there be anything you would want to buy to help with making the site? (cameras, lights, etc)

Rob, I wasn't talking about the divX option. But, on FTV, you offer .WMV files in both HD (8000 KB/sec) and a lower res (3000 KB/sec). Why not offer this on D's site? I don't mine downloading the lower res files because I only watch them on my computer monitor - not a large screen TV. Each lower res clip takes several minutes per download. But, with the HD, I could do a load of laundry or go shopping while ONE CLIP completes. THEN, I can't watch the video because my computer doesn't have a large enough video card.

What I'm saying is, Rob, I signed up for D's site, paid my $49.95/90 days, and it's worthless to me. I can't watch the videos so why be a member? Would you PLEASE consider the lower res option on .WMV files?

You know, not everyone has a high speed broadband connection. I think DSL is considered "broadband" but then there are slow and super fast DSL speeds.

Well there is only one Jessica on FTV and she did shoot about a year before Alison (2 shoots in total)

So what relationship was Alison to Jessica and is Jessica still in the business given she has not appeared since 2003 on FTV

I used to join a lot of sites in the 1998-2002 period, but to be honest, now I only watch what I shoot lol.


Did you get turned on doing your first shoot?

Sort of, when you are looking through a viewfinder or a small LCD screen, its much harder to 'enjoy' it that way. If I actually was sitting down and watching it 'live', maybe.



On you first shoot, did you get nervous?

No, I was doing this kind of shoot for fun back for many years, and doing regular fashion photography since 1990. So I can easily make a girl comfy without becoming overbearing or creepy.


If you did get nervous, how long did it take you to over come it?

My nervousness is mostly during the public stuff, so its not the model, but the risk.


Are you now desensitized to porn?

To generic videos, and airbrushed glam stuff, eg. Twistys style stuff -- it would be near impossible for me to get aroused. Sort of like watching cgi porn, I need the real stuff, real textures, real shadows. But the more natural setting videos or amateur looking material, it still turns me on!


Why did you start FTVGirls?

I had the ability to shoot photo & video, do the webastering, graphics, etc... so I didn't need help to start a site. After joining many sites, I saw what I liked, and what I could improve on. And wanted VIDEO to be the priority. As we all know, most people would rather 'get off' from video, not static images. I always say FTV is like the apple computer of the adult internet, improving on what is out there, but still a niche product and not everyones' cup of tea. (I don't use apple computers, I use PC's lol)


How did you go about getting models for your first shoot?

In the beginning, it was VERY tough. I would do personal interviews at a cafe etc, through ads in the paper. I would end up meeting the scariest, strangest women out there, and sometimes I had to run away. After FTV got a reputation, models started coming in, and agencies took a liking to my level of pay and photography. Now there is about 15 applications that come by email a day, and I get backlogged on the sheer number of shoots that are booked. Of course, with so many first timers, a lot of them book a shoot, but get cold feet and flake, thus wasting my day.


Was you sure this was the right thing for you to do at the time, and did you think you would be as big as you are today?

I never thought I'd be this big, but I knew though a 'member's eyes' what I'd want to see. I knew that the video aspect would make it ahead of the game, and even though the older content is considered low quality video to today's standards, it was ahead of its time. 640x480 wmv videos were a big step in 2002, and the 2000kb/sec version another big step in 2006. The 2008 8K HD vids are still some of the highest quality you can get out there.

Contrary to popular belief, I have never been married in my life -- I was engaged to a girl who became a playmate (which I helped her become) and did a lot of 'home videos' of. I was broken up with her by the time I started FTV, and because of our breakup FTV became a serious project for me. If we had stayed together, it is unlikely FTV would have ever existed. But as to your question, of course, there are girls who would totally turn me on. But I tend to go into this very disciplined mode, almost like a 'robot-photographer' where my only concerns are getting the best results, and keeping the model happy in every way possible.

If you have thought about it would you be so kind to say which ones you would have if you was not married?

heha, well married or not, there are several girls that have been 'personal favorites', but it would be too much to divulge haha. I'll give one hint though -- I did have a 'relationship' with Jenny of FTV -- or also called Stephanie Sadorra for a while :P
